The Fatherless Daughter Project is in FULL EFFECT

On February 16, 1984, my dad was killed. I usually dread this time of year, but this year is different. It is different, because the countdown to our book release is happening now. The Fatherless Daughter Project: Understanding Our Losses and Reclaiming Our Lives will hit stands on June 7, 2016, right before Father’s Day.

I have felt called to be the voice of fatherless daughters since I was 13 years old. It will have taken 32 years to see my purpose come to fruition on bookstands, but every moment was worth this wait. It is my heart’s biggest desire to see this book act as a guide for fatherless daughters from every walk of life. It is what I wish I had as a daughter growing up without her father.

Karin and I have assembled a true posse to help put this book on the map. We went to New York last week and had a meeting with the minds of Louisa Farrar from Penguin Random House, Sarah Hall and her team from Sarah Hall Productions,  and our agent Wendy Sherman. Wendy holds a dear spot in my gracious heart for plucking me off of my Today Show appearance way back when, to spend the next three hours listening to me, a fatherless daughter, go on and on about changing the world through fatherlessness. It would take me almost 10 more years to re-write my original memoir into a more purposeful book with co-author and friend, Karin Lusie.

Life is interesting that way, you know.  God is always working on our behalf. He was assembling all of the right people for me for the last 32 years. When I was healed and ready to heal others, everything else fell into place. I am forever grateful that I not only know my purpose in life, but I get to use that purpose to help turn mine, as well as other’s pain into power.

From Fatherless to Forgiveness to Fearless, one day, and one daughter at a time.
